Insanity Workout Review

The Insanity workout by Beachbody is one of my favorite Beachbody workout programs. They call it “Insanity” for a reason. Insanity utilizes Max Interval Training, which in short means you go until you can’t go anymore, take quick 30 second break, then go right back at it! It is extreme, it is intense, it is INSANE – and it is the most wonderful workout you will every do in your entire life.

What is involved with Insanity?

Month 1:

  • PLYOMETRICS (focus on legs and glutes)
  • UPPER BODY RESISTANCE (focus on sculpted arms, shoulders, chest, and back)
  • PURE CARDIO (focus on fat burn)
  • CARDIO ABS (focus on abs)
  • RECOVERY (allows your body to recover)

Month 2:

  • MAX INTERVAL CIRCUIT (tough interval workout)
  • MAX INTERVAL PLYO (extreme leg workout)
  • MAX CARDIO CONDITIONING (extreme cardio workout)
  • MAX RECOVERY (strength building)

The before and after pictures you see online are all true, every single one of them. I know that because I am one of those pictures you can find online. I lost 35 lbs in the first 30 days of the program! It makes you work but every ounce of effort you put in is generously rewarded when you start to see Insanity Results.

When you hit play on the first DVD, Plyometric Cardio Circuit, you will quickly find out how Insane the workout really is. If you haven’t worked out in a while it will seem very hard, if not impossible – but in a good way. Here are a few of the many exercises you will learn in the first month:

  1. Jumping Jacks
  2. Pushups
  3. Moving Pushups
  4. Heisman
  5. 123
  6. Butt Kick
  7. Mountain Climb
  8. High Knees
  9. Mummy Kicks

You are probably thinking that those exercises are easy right? WRONG! If you were to get down and do 5 pushups right now it might not be that hard. But try doing 30 seconds of pushups after you have done 30 seconds of suicide drills, 30 seconds of squat jacks, 30 seconds for Heisman, 30 seconds of butt kicks, 30 seconds of 123, 30 seconds of butt kicks, and 30 seconds of high knees for 3 REPS. Still sound easy? I can promise you it is far from. You won’t master the moves until the first month – if you’re lucky. It takes, speed, endurance, and motivation and if you don’t have that now, you will by Day 30.

You have to keep in mind that the first week you are going to be terrible if you haven’t worked out in a while BUT what matters is that you keep pushing. By the end of the third day you will see results with this program if you push yourself and by the end of the first week you will look and feel like a new person. By the second and third week you won’t even question the moves because you will have come very close to mastering them. If you listen to what the video tells you to do, and do the moves the absolute best you can, you will build enough muscle to master the Insanity program. By the end of the first month you become so motivated by the results you’ve seen that you don’t want to rest on rest day! This program will change your life and it will change your body.
